Proligo In 2001,
Proligo hired Tesser, with Michael Gonzales as Creative Director, to redesign their
corporate website. Proligo has nearly 15 years of experience
in nucleic acid chemistry. In short, they put innovative research
tools in the hands of genetic researchers. They sell two primary
products directly oligonucleotide synthesis reagents and
oligonucleotides; both technologies are on the forefront of genetic
research into diseases such as cancer and HIV. As the processes
used to purify these products are much too expensive to develop
on a large scale, it is often difficult to obtain for research.
Proligo offers very competitive prices, allowing more scientists
to obtain oligonucleotides for their studies.
Proligo needed a website that would appeal to scientists, lab workers, and researchers
- not necessarily an easy job considering the caliber of intellect represented
by the would-be website visitors. The site needed to maintain the Proligo logo
as well as the corporate color, blue. At the time of website production, Proligo
was a smaller company, so it desired to keep its design costs down by outsourcing
the html production.
True to the nature of scientific researchers, Michael created a website
that would appeal to their “no fluff” attitudes. The website consists
of exact and detailed information. It is simple, clean, and neat just like
the atmosphere needed to study genetics. Michael also created within the
site an online print and design system complete with a type system, color system,
and navigation system. This design system was documented for the outsourced html
production as well as for site maintenance later on. Along with the online design,
Michael created a printed system of folders, brochures, and business papers
based on the online system and consistent with Proligo’s known logo.
Proligo was pleased with the results of its new website. Any researcher now visiting
the site would be inspired by the offerings of the company, and thanks to Michael
’s creative talents, would not leave the site without easily obtaining
information and adding Proligo products to his own research library.
